Implied Texture
Fifth grade artists will be formally introduced to the concept of implied texture through brief guided practice. Students will learn the basic printmaking techniques and use lines, dot, shapes and repetition to create implied texture. During a brief anticipatory set the teacher will also introduce students to contemporary artists Nick Cave and Wayne Thiebaud. There will be a brief discussion on how these artists use actual and implied texture in their work.

Medium: Printmaking and Pattern Design
Students will identify what implied and actual texture is through guided practice and discussion. Student will complete a wood grain texture image transfer and implied texture using markers.
