Bubble Drawing
Fourth grade artists will explore the basics of color pencil, focusing on blending and shading techniques. They will engage in hands-on activities to create bubble drawings, learning how to layer colors and add highlights for depth and realism. Students will be introduced to the work of local mural artists Nevercrew, particularly their bubble mural in Rochester, NY. This will foster an appreciation for light, color, shapes, and patterns in artistic expression.

4th Grade Lesson
Medium: Color Pencil
Students will Learn and practice fundamental color pencil techniques, including blending, shading, and creating highlights, to produce realistic and vibrant bubble drawings.
STEP 1: Tracing
Students use a cup to trace a big circle with white colored pencils.
STEP 3: Shading
Students use two different colored pencils to shade opposite sides of the bubble.
STEP 5: Highlight
Add highlights using a white color pencil! Use dots, squares, ovals, and flare lines (stars).
STEP 2: Drawing
Students hand draw a small circle/oval with white color pencils
STEP 4: Add Details
Lightly blend orange and yellow colors into the ring. Then, add a couple of blue and yellow highlights.
